MAJOR ROSE CEDERVALL
(March 25, 1946 - April 18, 2010)
I will never leave you nor forsake you." Hebrews 13:5
"For this I have Jesus." Daily Bread

On Sunday, April 18, 2010, after a prolonged illness, Major Rose Cedervall went to be with the Lord, surrounded by family members.

Rose was born in Waterloo, Iowa on March 25, 1946 to David E. and Rose E. Hoppes.  Graduating from Cedar Falls High School in 1965, she attended Vennard Bible College, during which time, after a courtship of over two years, she married David Cedervall on December 17, 1966. After two years at the School for Officer Training in the Central USA Territory on June 13, 1969 she was ordained and commissioned as a member of the "Evangelists" Session.

She, with David, had a beautiful team ministry in both the Central and Eastern USA Territories of The Salvation Army. They served in Indiana, at National Headquarters, New Jersey, Ohio, Eastern Territorial Headquarters where she was an editor’s assistant, Niagara Falls, NY, and at THQ, this time as co-director of Bible Correspondence studies.  Majors Cedervall had to go on sick leave on September 1, 2009, and entered honored early retirement November 1 of last year.

During their appointments at T.H.Q. Rose led a Women’s Book Club at which a good number of employees have been nurtured and ministered to by Rose.  The women held her in high esteem.

Predeceased by father, David E. Hoppes, and brothers, Thomas and Daniel Hoppes, Rose is survived by her dearly beloved husband of 43+ years, Major David; sons, Nathan (Renee) of Edison, NJ, Captain Kevin (Bettie) of New Hope, MN and daughter, Jennifer (Jeremiah) Chainey of Hammonton, NJ; mother, Mrs. Rose Hoppes; sister, Nancy Conner of Noblesville, IN; brothers, David J. Hoppes of Minneapolis, MN, and Tim Hoppes of Cedar Rapids, IA. Major Rose dearly loved her six grandchildren and rejoiced in knowing a new grandson was expected this coming August to daughter Jennifer and husband Jeremiah Chainey.
